Flea Market Finds

This summer, I took some time off from my usual routine of combing my favorite flea markets a few times a month. I guess I was mostly trying to practice a bit of self-discipline and not feel the need to buy everything in sight, but now that I have totally learned that lesson (or not), I’m back in business this fall and I’ve found some pretty good treasures recently.

How cute are these vintage glasses? They came in a set of eight and are currently all residing on our bar cart in neat little rows. I love the band of gold on the top and the etched stars make them perfect for holiday cocktails. New Years toast perhaps?
I’ve had my eye on these brass unicorn bookends for a full year now. Every time I visited that flea market I would check to see if they were still there. And every time they were. Because everyone who saw them is crazy and didn’t get them. Not wanting to be labeled as an idiot myself, I bought the little guys and they are busy at being super handsome unicorn studs in my art room. Now to get some brass cleaner…any suggestions?

I’ve been debating getting a deer or cow skull for a while, and I found this one that was in great condition at a pretty reasonable price. Just a bit of gold spray paint on the antlers and it was ready for display. Easy peasy. (What the hell is a “peasy”?? I don’t even want to know…)

I love treasure hunting. Find anything good lately?

I just found very similar glasses at Goodwill! They don’t have the stars on them, but they have the gold band at the top. They are amazing and were only $1 apiece. You found some goodies!

I have found tons of vintage maps lately and once my little guy is older i know exactly where to find all the cool wooden toys. southern California is amazing when it comes to thrift stores and swap meets

Love that skull! My obsession for the last year has been with antlers. My best friend’s parents found a few sets at her grandmother’s house and I went into a DIY fangirling frenzy when they gave 4 sets to me! Love it!

Can’t wait to have my own space to decorate, it’s so hard to justify most thrift/flea scores when they’ll just end up in the attic with only a promise of being on display when I move out!

I’ll just live vicariously through you for now.

I love the finds! I’m going thrifting this weekend and looking for a small dresser that could be a night stand. Ps your blog is now in my top 5 favorites. And not that I’m an authority or anything, but I am considered a blog-reading enthusiast by my fam and friends. So… You know. That’s a pretty big deal.

Those antlers look rad painted gold. I have some I’ve been wanting to gold leaf and now I feel more inspired to actually get my butt in gear and get it done.

I just have to say that I am absolutely in love with that skull. I’ve been frantically searching flea markets for my own to add gold paint to. No luck yet, so cross your fingers for me!

What did you use to hang the skull? I have one very similar but due to the curve on the back I haven’t figured out how to best hang it where it is as flush as possible to the wall. Thanks!!

I wasn’t sure how to hang it either, but I used an S shaped hook and put one side in the wall and used the other side to hang it with 🙂
