So, I had to take Todd to the airport early this morning to embark on a two week tour to Singapore and Australia. You may be sitting there wondering a couple of questions:
Q: Does it totally suck to say goodbye to your best boy for weeks at a time?
A: Yes.
Q: Does it totally suck more when he will go to awesome places and have tons of fun without you while you stay in a town that can’t get it together enough to have a Trader Joe’s?
A: Yes.
Q: Does it totally extra suck when you remember the night before he leaves that those awesome places he will have so much exclusive fun in are outside the US and therefore you can’t call him during the whole trip?
A: Yes.
To help ease my building trip-related sadness, we usually try and have a night of good times before he leaves. So we did what any self-respecting couple would do: we dressed in matching colors, went on a mall spree (well, I “mini spreed” while he played Hanging with Friends in Forever 21), and ate the most delicious Thai food in town. Todd is the best at cheering me up, so we had a wonderful time, but it’s always a sad transition when I have to go back to life without him.
Oh well, I guess it’s just furry baby Charlie and me once again. We are totally going to have sleepovers every night and braid each other’s hair…
Thai food and shopping sound like a great last night together.
I hope you bought those wedge sneakers – they’re gorgeous!
Love the sneakers! Oh I know what it is like to be weeks apart from your loved on on a normal basis. But the good thing about it is that it reminds you how much you love and appreciate each other!!
So true Jen, I have to remind myself of that a lot!
😉
“Absence makes the heart grow fonder”…although I’m pretty sure you’d much rather just have him around!! Poor you! Make the most of the time by writing lots more entertaining blog posts for us to read 🙂

I saw your “dress alike” photo on Instagram and wondered if you did that on purpose! Hopefully, you can have good Skype dates while he’s away. It’s what always saves me when my guy gets to go to America and I’m stuck here in Turkey, that and all the fun treats he brings when he comes back!

Yes! Presents are always appreciated!
Yes! I love this post! My boy’s in a band, too- overseas tours are the worst! We use the Magic Jack app for phone calls. It’s free with a Wi-Fi connection, and hooks into a local number, so it doesn’t affect your phone bill. Hope the weeks fly by for you!
Thanks for the tip Severina! I’ll have to look into that 🙂
your journaling totally makes me laugh. have you ever gone on tour with him? like for a week or a weekend?
Thanks Teddi! I have gone out a bunch of times over the years, but not since I started the blog. The “tour life” section is just waiting for some adventures to happen!
