Strawberry Basil Lemonade Cocktail

So, I have a confession to make. I’m an addict. Well, I’m addicted. To this cocktail. Please don’t think less of me. I was at Houlihan’s (a local restaurant chain) a few weeks ago and saw a lemonade concoction on their menu that used gin, strawberries, and basil. I love basil and strawberries, so I thought I might really regret it if I didn’t at least give the drink a try. DE-LIC-IOUS. The only problem with the drink was that I didn’t have unending refills of it when I got home, so I decided to remedy that little issue as soon as possible. It actually didn’t take long at all to unlock the sweet summer flavor at home, here’s what you’ll need:

  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Lemonade
  • Gin
  • Simple Syrup

For one drink, slice two strawberries and muddle them together with two medium basil leaves in the bottom of your glass.

On top of your strawberry/basil mixture, add 2 parts lemonade and 1 part gin. We made MinuteMaid frozen lemonade, but it would be extra delish to make your own lemonade from scratch. Add a dash of simple syrup to taste, and you are ready to sip your summery goodness!
We made these for a recent party and it really helped to prepare a batch of the muddled strawberries and basil and the lemonade/gin/simple syrup mixture right before the gathering started. That way, we could just scoop our strawberry concoction into a glass and pour the spiked lemonade right on top.

I guess you all know what I’ll be drinking this summer, cheers!

Looks like summer in a glass! I’ll be making these for my house warming in a few weeks. Might have to try out a few first, just for to be sure I get it right 😉 x

I just made a strawberry-basil something something recently. So refreshing! My simple syrup had the strawberry and basil flavors in it. I was trying to copy a cocktail I had on a trip, which used gin AND vodka… summertime happy hour time!

that sounds totally amazing! I always find it impressive when people enjoy something out in the world and then come home to recreate it, many life points!
